Parenting After Separation or Divorce .. Our courses.

Parenting presents its challenges everyday. How to set rules, manage behaviour and really connect with your child is a lot to take on, especially when you have never been given any training! When parents are living together and working as a team, it can be easier as you can provide backup for each other, discuss problems together and decide on solutions. It’s a tough job for parents but even tougher when you find yourself separatedor divorced and trying to handle the everyday parenting challenges effectively.

No matter what happens between parents, whether they split amicably or acrimoniously, they are still parents to their children and must get on with their responsibility of co-parenting in a way that:

Recognises the issues for the children

Sets out a structure for the children that helps to prevent uncertainty

Protects the feelings and emotions of their children

Helps the children to adjust and settle down with the new family structure

and considerate of their own & their children’s feelings

Allows the children to love both parents equally and without feeling that they are ‘letting the other parent down

Course Content

  • Basic principle of positive parenting and positive discipline
  • Recognising the emotions that the separation/divorce presents for your children
  • Recognising the stress and emotions that you may experience

Parents Separated

We are now in 2012. A new year, a new start, for all concerned. We have been at our current premises for over one year now. We share the same building as parental Equality, an organisation that has given support and help to numerous people for many many years. I do hope the festive season treated you all kindly, and it will be great to see you all again, and hopefully, some new faces. We will continue to hold our meetings on Tuesday's bi-weekly. It is a pleasure to be present to witness the wonderful interaction between male and female, advice and life experiences. We would like to thank you all, because it is you who makes the meeting what it is.

If you want to add your piece, please feel free to do so by logging in here, or visiting the blog (www.parentsseparated.blogspot.com)

Also..

We have had  several 'Social Nights Out' in Dundalk, since we started our meetings.... so those of you interested in attending in the future, please inform Val.
